Wimbleball Lake is without doubt one of Exmoor's greatest assets and since the reservoir's creation, in the mid 1970s, the 374 acres of water have been a magnet for watersports lovers.
Set in some typically beautiful Exmoor scenery, the views at Wimbleball are stunning all year round, attracting sailors, canoeists, rowers, windsurfers, anglers, walkers, bird watchers, campers and just the plain old curious!
Wimbleball Lake is managed by South West Lakes Trust who have responsibility for 53 lakes in the south west of England. The centre is RYA and AALA approved and provides tuition, hire and launch for windsurfing, canoeing and sailing, with wetsuits and buoyancy aids if needed, to the general public most days from Easter to the end of October.
Their Saturday junior club gets youngsters started and then encourages them to join the sailing club. They also manage the fleet of fishing boats available to hire from the watersports centre and access to fly-fishing on the lake.
