Transport

Getting around Exmoor is not always as easy as some may think. We have devoted this part of the site to providing you with up to date information about the transport schemes currently in operation on the Moor.

Latest... From April 1st, 2004, people who have registered for a bus pass (elderly and people with disabilities) will be able to use volunteer car schemes and the CVS minibus services at half price. The County Council will re-imburse the carrier directly (CVS or the car scheme), and the individual user pays only half 'fare' on the day. All that's needed is sight of a bus pass and basic information about each individual.

Brushford Volunteers Lift Scheme

Details
The Brushford Volunteers Lift Scheme was launched on January 15th 2004 and aims to assist the Brushford residents who do not have access to affordable transport.

The scheme has a bank of drivers who are insured to collect and return such passengers for doctors’ appointments, trips to the chemist, chiropodist or for any other justifiable purpose.

The cost of the lifts is 30p per mile, 25p of which goes to the driver and 5p to the scheme to aid administration, insurance and costs. All these eligible people are required to do, is book their transport via the transport co-ordinator on 01398 323776 at least 24 hours in advance, and confirm the cost beforehand.

The fare is placed in a sealed envelope and the driver passes it on to the co-ordinator, who refunds each driver’s costs at the end of the month.

If you would like to become a voluntary driver and live in the Brushford area then the scheme would be very pleased to hear from you.
