This brief overview of the Disability Discrimination Act Part 4 will look at the main points in the act relevant to every training provider. The Act is to ensure that people with disabilities are not discriminated against because of their disability, it is not intended to trip up unsuspecting educators!
We will offer some solutions to providing accessible venues, teaching and learning. In the half day session we will look at disability within society, understand some of the needs of people with disabilities and show ways of overcoming barriers to learning.

Child Protection Policy and Implementation Workshops
Comments: Sports coach UK in partnership with the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) are delivering Child Protection Policy and Implementation Workshops in London on Thursday 10 June and Leicester on Thursday 7 October.
This workshop is aimed at people responsible for child protection within their organisation and is appropriate for people working in sports partnerships, local authorities, education and governing bodies of sport.
By focusing on implementation issues this workshop will help organisations understand and achieve the national standards for child protection, as developed and agreed by the CPSU and Sport England.

How to coach Children in Sport

How to coach Children in Sport is a 2 hour course being offered by scUK and we have 24 free places!
Learn about basic principles of good practise, how children’s development must shape your coaching and the concept of long-term athletic development on this free course provided by Sports Coach UK, the National Coaching Foundation, with funding from Somerset Adult Learning & Leisure.

Canoeing for beginners
Comments: Canoeing for beginners is just that. Learn how to master the basics of a canoe on this entry level course.
2 Courses are being held along side each other, each for 10 weeks. One starts on the 4th
May and the other on the 6th until the 13th and 15th July 04.
The course is being run by a BCU qualified canoeing Coach and from the safety of Wimbleball Sailing club and anyone can come along. As the course is being hosted by Adult Learning & Leisure you need to be a minimum of 18 years old.
