Carhampton lies approximately 4 miles to the east of Minehead.

The village is close to Dunster and within walking distance of Blue Anchor Beach and Dunster Beach.

There is a village shop with Post Office and a pub in Carhampton.

Carhampton has a population of approximately 900.

The village is famous for its annual Wassailing festival which takes place on 17th January, and was started in the 1930s by The Taunton Cider Company.

The Carhampton area is steeped in history with evidence of iron age settlements.

It is believed that in the 9th century King Egbert and his men fought the crews of 35 Viking ships at Carhampton.

Arthurian legend suggests Carhampton to be the place where Saint Carantoc is said to have tamed a dragon, or slain a serpent that was terrorising the villagers.

Spaniel Cottage is let on a Saturday to Saturday basis, arrival from 3pm onwards. Weekly rates vary between £260.00 during the low season to £400.00 in the high season. A deposit of £65.00 per week is required to secure the booking or payment in full for a booking made less than six weeks prior to the holiday dates. A final invoice together with the details of key location and cottage etc. will be sent six weeks prior to your holiday. Please indicate if you require a cot and high chair.

Road Directions

Leave the M5 at junction 23 at Bridgwater and follow the signs to Minehead A39 or junction 25 at Taunton and follow the signs to Minehead A358 and then A39.
In the village of Carhampton, turn right down driveway 50 yards past the Spar Shop and Post Office.
