Try your hand at basic survival skills including making a shelter from the natural materials you find in the woods and lighting a fire using fire-steels and natural tinder’s. Booking essential.

Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June ‘Bug Fest’
The ‘Bug Fest’ event is being held in the Discovery Centre again this year. ‘Bug Fest’ is part of the annual North Devon Festival, more information will be available about it nearer the time on our website and please look out for information in the North Devon Festival Brochures. Booking essential.
Plant Walks at Wistlandpound as part of Herbal Medicine week 2010
Sunday 20th June 2.00pm – 3.30m & Wednesday 23rd June 6.00pm- 7.30pm
Suitable for any age, well behaved dogs welcome, £3.00 per head, 50p for children under 13
Come along and discover native plants and their medicinal uses with a local medicinal herbalist. Booking essential.

Through a series of games in the forest and beside the lake find out how the animals at Wistlandpound have adapted to their environment.

Wednesday 11th: August: Teddy Bears Picnic (accessible)
11.00 am – 1.30 pm for children aged 3 – 7, their teddy’s, parents, or guardians.
Bring a picnic, meet in the Discovery Centre and follow the Teddy bear trial to a log circle in the woods for a picnic.
£6.00 per child, accompanying adults free. Parking charges apply
Thursday 12th August: Awesome Earth (accessible)

Find out what its like to meet a tree, how you can walk through the trees without a rope and make a smelly cocktail.

Wednesday 27th October: Lantern Making and a Night Walk (accessible, no dogs)
4.30pm – 7.00pm 7years plus £6.00 per person Parking charges apply.
Meet in the Discovery Centre where we will make a lantern, then go for a walk to experience the sounds and secrets of Wistlandpound at night.
Christmas Crafts and Festive Fun at Wistlandpound

Saturday 11th December 12.00noon – 4.00pm
Sunday 12th December 12noon – 4.00pm
Come along and take a walk outside to collect natural things from the forest then return to the Discovery Centre and use these to make Christmas cards and decorations.
Suitable for children 4 years plus and their parents/ guardians, £10.00 per child accompanying adults free. Parking charges apply.

All children participating in the events must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Each activity will start form the Discovery Centre, car park charges apply on site, it will be £2.00 for the day but feel free to explore other areas around the lake or bring a picnic for before or after the event.
From the M5 leave at junction 27 and turn on to the A361 to Barnstaple.
Follow the A361 for 25 miles.
At North Aller roundabout take the third exit onto the A399. This will be signposted to Blackmoor Gate, Brayford & Lynton. Follow the A399 for 11 miles.
Continue along the A399 until you have passed the right turn for Challacombe and Minehead.
Take a left turn off the A399 (just after a parking lay-by on the left). This is signposted Calvert Trust Exmoor and Wistlandpound Reservoir.
Follow this road for approx. half a mile and drive into the Calvert Trust/ Discover Wistlandpound entrance and turn immediately left (following the arrow) into the Wistlandpound car parks.
Please note that there is a parking charge in place that helps support the facilities enjoyed at Wistlandpound along with Wistlandpound’s ongoing wildlife management.
