Moonraker challenge set to be biggest yet

ORGANISERS of an overnight walking challenge are hoping for a record-breaking event next month.

The Big Moonraker Challenge, organised by Taunton Vale Rotary Club, starts at Wimbleball Lake and covers parts of Exmoor on Saturday, October 27.

Three new routes have been designed this year, with a six-mile, a 12-mile and a 15-mile option.

The walkers are raising funds for the Children's Hospice South West and other Rotary charities.

Organiser Rob Clasby said: "There are two major challenges this year - to beat the number of teams and the amount raised by team sponsorship for charity last year.

"Entries are now coming in from last year's teams, and we'll be interested to see if any team can beat the individual sponsorship total of £1,500 raised by Karl Bennett, his family and supporters from Bishop's Hull Post Office."

Entry and sponsorship forms are available by clicking on the links below.

Jas Shorney can be contacted on 01823-451532 for more information.
