The Calvert Trust Exmoor is taking visitors to heights undreamed of with a new £65,000 indoor climbing wall.
The rock-effect wall at the centre near Blackmoor Gate gives 1,334 square feet of climbing space and can be used by climbers of all ages and abilities, including people with disabilities.
The new facility covers an entire wall of the Trust sports hall and features a "belay ledge" at the top where climbers can be belayed and assisted from above, while a specially designed area allows instructors to hoist climbers in wheelchairs too.
The Calvert Trust specialises in enabling people with varying disabilities to join in with outdoor or indoor physical activities, together with their friends and family.
Local climbers are also invited to try it out, every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6-9.30pm.
The climbing wall is around 22ft high and was built in just two weeks and is created from resin, giving a realistic rock-like appearance and texture, offering a number of features such as ledges, cracks, overhangs and pockets.
There are three main sections, giving a wide variety of colour-coded climbing routes which should provide people of any age or ability the opportunity to have a go - and work their way up!
"The new wall is a great asset to our guests," said Oliver Jenkins, the new activities manager at the Trust.
"People of all abilities can climb or be hoisted then enjoy the abseil down.
It's another key piece of equipment that keeps people with disability fully engaged and challenged in all weathers."
