There are many miles of paths following the shorelines of lakes, meandering through woodland and onto open moorland. There’s also a wealth of wildlife to watch and discover so whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll, an active cycle ride or a more challenging walk whatever your ability there is something for everyone at the lake.
The Angling and Watersports Centre is open for tuition in various activities including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing. Visitors can also launch their own craft or hire from the centre.
Wimbleball is also a premier trout fishery offering angling from the banks and also boats, there are often tution days for beginners and improvers further details are posted on our fishing pages. Permits are available on site and boats can be booked in advance. The Centre also offers beginner and improver fly fishing tuition and has some pre-arranged days you are welcome to book in advance via the Centre.
The land surrounding the lake offers miles of footpaths including a 9 mile round Lake walk. The tea-room, adjacent to the campsite offers an indoor retreat for light lunches, beverages and snacks whilst the play area is ideal for the younger ones to burn off some energy in the beautiful Exmoor countryside. A campsite overlooks the water and there is a tea-room offering a variety of refreshments.

• T15 'Wimbleball Wombles' junior windsurfing squad: every Saturday.
• Nippers Sailing: Sundays from 4 April until 26 September 9.30am - 11am (beginners, 11.30am - 1pm intermediate).
Activities off the water: Orienteering. Introductory courses suitable for children and families are available at the Lake. There are several routes to enjoy including short and long routes. Details are available from the Centre.
From Tiverton take the A396, follow brown signs from the Exeter Inn roundabout to Bampton & then Wimbleball.
From Dunster take the A396 towards Dulverton; follow brown signs at Machine Cross.
From Taunton take the A39 to Washford Cross, and then the B3190 towards Bampton, the turning for Wimbleball is signed from this road.
