Canoeing on Exmoor

canoeing the river barle, Exmoor

Canoeing on Exmoor has long been a popular activity with a good choice of rivers, lakes and spectacular coastline. There is no general right of access on rivers and lakes so read on for more information of where you can legally go and when!

Heading south the rivers Barle and Exe provide some great grade 1 and 2 paddles, whilst the infamous river Lyn heads north providing a challenge for the more experienced paddler. For access arrangments follow these links.

Wimbleball Lake provides the perfect location to learn canoeing as it offers sheltered, 'flat' water and stunning scenery at the same time. There's plenty of family fun to be had with tuition and boat hire available all year round. BCU Courses are also available throughout the year.
