Christopher Columbus first set eyes on Cuba in 1492 and described it as the ‘most beautiful land human eyes have ever seen’

After the success of our first challenge event to Mount Kilimanjaro, we are excited to announce our next challenge. In March 2006 we plan to take a group trekking deep in the Cuban countryside on a spectacular journey through limestone canyons and across forested hillsides.

The trek takes place in the stunning Sierra del Escambray Mountains. We will trek through coffee plantations, orange orchards with giant palms lining the way and swim in crystal clear waterfalls. Most nights we camp in this peaceful wilderness.

People from all walks of life and of all ages can take part. From 18-80 everyone is welcome. This will be a challenge with many highlights and as with our Kilimanjaro climb, you’ll find that there a great sense of team spirit and support.

2006 is our 25th anniversary and this event will play a major role in raising funds as part of our celebrations. Each participant has to raise a minimum of £2,250 and we hope that as many people as possible will join us on what promises to be an exciting trip.

Raising the sponsorship money may seem daunting but with our Kilimanjaro event many of our challengers exceeded the target by some way. When you register we will send you a fundraising pack of information and ideas on how to raise funds. If you are interested in participating and would like more information please contact Nemone Warner at the Society on 020 7222 2781 or .

We really hope you’ll join us!
