Times: 10-4pm
Location: River Barle, Exmoor.
This 1 day course is designed for those kayakers wanting to progress their flat water skills and make the transition to ‘white water’. The desired pre requisite for this course is to be 2* standard, or a confident kayaker.
This course will introduce all you need to know about paddling grade 1 and 2 rivers. Theory covered will include river features, access and environment, safety in numbers, basic rescues, throw line use, moving water strokes and skills and much more.
Personal paddling skills such as launching and landing, ferry gliding, breaking in and out of the flow, reading the river and navigating moving water will be covered.
Basic rescue skills such as throw line use, defensive swimming, assisting ‘swimmers’, and rescuing boats will be covered.
With a 1:4 ratio, your instructor will be able to give you personal attention, ensuring you have a safe, enjoyable day, with guaranteed improvement and progression from your current paddling ability.
Cost: £60
Kayak hire is available at £15 per day with all necessary equipment.
Your instructor will be BCU level 3 white water qualified, experienced and fully insured.
