Active Exmoor has been set up by the community of Rural Exmoor to provide a service to all who live in the more rural areas, particularly within the catchment area of Dulverton Middle School. There is so much to do here and our objective is to encourage everyone to enjoy the activities on offer here in the Park. So if you're looking for something new to try or for more members to join in your activity, Active Exmoor is here to help.

The project started in 2003 and is funded for 3 years by lottery money provided through Sport England, Somerset County Council funding and generous contributions made from other community groups and organisations here on Exmoor. We are able to provide a totally free service to the public.

The Active Exmoor project aims simply to encourage more of the community on Southern Exmoor to participate in the wide variety of activities that are available in the local area.

The more rural areas were particularly targeted due to the challenges presented by the remote rural locations, small populations, limited transport links and lack of facilities in the area.

As funding provided is for a fixed term, the project is focusing on sustainable activity provision rather that providing one-off experiences. This means the project will focus on assisting new clubs to start, existing ones to increase in numbers, raising public awareness of the activities available, bringing together the community of activity providers across the moor to share experiences and information.
